At work

I'm SVP at Pleo, leading platform, data, IT, and our AI infrastructure buildout. The current focus is on three things: AI infrastructure — building the foundation for AI-powered product capabilities, alongside internal productivity tooling that's already changing how we work. Cost structure — we renegotiated our card scheme partnerships and took 70% out of scheme costs; now the rest of the processing stack gets the same treatment. And growing leaders — I've got a leadership team of 7 running 100+ professionals, and my job is making sure they have the context, autonomy, and support to make great decisions without me.

What's next

After seven years building Pleo's platform and payments organisation, I'm starting to look at what comes after: executive product and engineering roles in fintechs and scale-ups facing the growth problems I know how to solve. Exploring

How AI reshapes fintech infrastructure — not the product layer but the boring important stuff: fraud detection, transaction monitoring, reconciliation, compliance automation. European payment convergence — SEPA Instant is now mandatory, PSD3 is taking shape, and A2A payments are gaining real traction. And what "platform engineering" actually means — the industry is coalescing around this term but most implementations miss the point.

Listening to a lot of live music. Being a dad. Trying to read more books and fewer newsletters.
